Web Work & Designs

I am a little more than a novice at web site designing. I've been doing it since 1999, and came up with some fun and crafty ideas, but it wasn't until recently that I discovered the wonder of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It is quite easy, with a basic knowledge of HTML, to design amazingly cool web sites using CSS.

I also have become interested in making my sites XHTML Compliant, this is the cutting edge of coding for the web. Combined with CSS it is possibly the best coding style around. Unfortunately, it is not fully compliant with older browsers and operating systems, but since this is my personal site I can say, "Update your software." There is no excuse for not having an up-to-date web browser, you can find them for free all over the web. You will find that every page on this web site complies with the rules for both XHTML and CSS.

My goal in making this site was to make each section unique, all the guitar-related pages look the same, likewise with the flower section, etc. (Knowing me I didn't stick to this for each and every page, but I tried.) I also tried, as much as possible, to hand-code each page, when I had to rely on outside help I consulted Dreamweaver but would always finish by hand using BBEdit. I hope I was successful.

The CSS, on the other hand, was not done by hand. I used a very wonderful program called Style Master which gives you the chance to see your various tweaks instantly. I couldn't have done the cool layout things I did without it.

If you're interested in my help in making your own web site, I can be hired. Contact me for more information. In the meantime, enjoy surfing this site and looking at some of my other designs -- the good, the bad, the ugly and the non-XHTML/CSS compliant.
